At Phoenix Rising Integrative Medicine, we are here to support you physically and emotionally during this next step in your journey to parenthood. Acupuncture during pregnancy has significant health benefits for both mom and baby, and we recommend treatment throughout your entire pregnancy.

During the first 12 weeks, acupuncture can greatly reduce the risk of miscarriage and for this reason we highly recommend coming in weekly, as acupuncture can help maintain your health during pregnancy and to assist in avoidance of possible complications such as fatigue, nausea, low back pain, pre-eclampsia, eclampsia, gestational diabetes, and hyperemesis gravidarum. Further, acupuncture will continue to deliver more blood, oxygen, and nutrients to your growing baby helping to encourage a beautiful, healthy and well-developed child.

Towards the end of pregnancy, acupuncture, moxibustion, and acupressure are particularly helpful in turning breech babies and preparing mom and baby for birth.  Acupuncture can also be effective at supporting natural labor induction after 40 weeks.

At Phoenix Rising Acupuncture, we offer complete pregnancy support plans, which include acupuncture, moxibustion, and acupressure, as well as dietary and nutrition guidance, yoga and movement exercises to help prepare for birth.

It is important to note that acupuncture during pregnancy is safe only by those who are licensed and trained acupuncturists. Unfortunately, there are healthcare practitioners who offer acupuncture, dry needling, or medical acupuncture to pregnant women without a degree in Chinese Medicine or an acupuncture license.  To ensure that your practitioner is licensed to perform acupuncture, please reference NCAAOM website
